Friends of Castlewood Canyon appreciates the Colorado Parks Foundation for their support of two of our projects.   In 2016, we received a generous grant that paved the way for the replacement of the Park's interpretive signs.   The original signs installed when Castlewood Canyon was established were, by then, completely illegible.   The CPF’s grant resulted in five new signs in strategic locations:

- Castlewood dam's ruins
- The view of the reservoir (Lake Louisa) created by the dam.
- Lucas homestead
- Our east canyon nature preserve
- The native plant garden adjacent to the visitor center.


In 2019, another grant from the CPF allowed us to engage TeamWorks for a week's work to improve a section of our trails.


As a grant writer for Friends of Castlewood Canyon State Park, what I most appreciate about the CPF is that they totally understand the challenges that our Park faces in providing our visitors with engaging, safe experiences.   Rather than a long/involved grant application form, grant requesters to the CPF, simply thoroughly explain what the need is, who it will benefit, and the estimated cost.
